A1 as partner of the Pink Ribbon initiative: Isabelle Huppert awarded P.R.I.M.A. Award 2010 to hospital team from Leoben
The award ceremony of the P.R.I.M.A. Award 2010 - initiated by A1 - took place today at the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, MAK. Award winning actress Isabelle Huppert presented the award to the LKH Leoben breast clinic team. More than 220 prominent guests from politics, business, society and the media had come to honour the outstanding commitment of the winning team of Dr. Florentina Peintinger as well as of the other finalists and also to promote breast cancer prevention.
Pink Ribbon is a global initiative for breast cancer prevention. As a long-time partner of the Austrian Association Against Cancer, mobilkom austria confers the P.R.I.M.A. Award (pink ribbon initiative mobilkom austria) for the third time. “We would like to honour people with the P.R.I.M.A. Award who help and support breast cancer patients in an outstanding way,” explains Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO of mobilkom austria & Telekom Austria. This year the award focused on empathetic communication with breast cancer patients in hospitals.
P.R.I.M.A award winner 2010 received 13.823 votes via SMS
“The breast care team of the gynaecologic ward does not only have the necessary medical competence, they are always there for their patients. Patients have a person they can turn to, who is available 24/7. The doctor-patient-relationship has a very strong human dimension. The focus of our work is helping women whose lives have been disrupted by breast cancer, explains Dr. Florentina Peintinger - who represents the winning team of LKH Leoben - the task of her team and the reason for the award. Isabelle Huppert presented the P.R.I.M.A. Award and emphasised: “Breast cancer affects us all. There are more and more young women suffering from this condition. If the tumour is found at an early stage, the patient has very good chances to recover fully. This is why it is so crucial to promote prevention.” She adds: The P.R.I.M.A. Award is an important signal for all women with breast cancer and also their families - it shows them that they are not left alone with their problems and worries.”
Breast cancer patients form all across Austria could nominate the medical teams which were helping them for the award in order to honour their work and commitment. The P.R.I.M.A Committee and the Austrian Association against Cancer had chosen 10 hospital teams from Carinthia, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna for the finals. The SMS-voting showed a wave of solidarity and compassion: more than 36.000 text message were sent nationwide in support of the 10 finalist teams. The winning team received 13.823 SMS.
Prominent supporters
A1 company spokeswoman and initiator of the P.R.I.M.A award Elisabeth Mattes and host Hannes Ametsreiter were delighted to welcome so many prominent guests: apart from the members of the P.R.I.M.A Committee Federal Minister for Women and Civil Service Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, Doctor Ursula Denison, President of Friends of Secession Sylvie Liska, H&M Managing Director Claudia Oszwald and editor of H.O.M.E. magazine Desiree Treichl- Stürgkh, many prominent supporters had come to the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts (MAK). International film star Isabelle Huppert, chairwoman of the Cannes 2009 jury, had come to Vienna to present the P.R.I.M.A. Award. Other prominent guests were: singer Dorretta Carter, business woman Elisabeth Gürtler, President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce Brigitte Jank, Life-Ball organiser Gery Keszler, designer Atil Kutoglu, attorney Edith Hlawati, Head of the Austrian Federal Financing Agency Martha Oberndorfer, gallery owner Elisabeth Michitsch, Ex-Minister Maria Rauch-Kallat and many others.
